Geochemistry
Geochemistry applies the principles and tools of chemistry to investigate chemical properties and interactions of rocks, minerals, and fluids as well as their evolution characteristics on the Earth and other planetary bodies in the solar system. At USTC,our research interests cover planetary environments from the Earth core to the planetary surfaces and geological timescale from the birth of the solar system to present day, particulary:
(1)High temperature-pressure geochemistry, including the evolution of magma and fluids, metamorphism, ore-forming processes, and chemical geodynamics.
(2)Low temperature geochemistry, including biomineralization, environmental geochemistry, atmospheric chemistry, and early Earth surface geochemistry.
(3)Planetary sciences, including the formation and evolution of early solar systems, chemistry of interstellar macro-organics and dust, habitability of terrestrial planets and icy moons in the solar system.
